1. Life is like a box of chocolates.
The Patriots seriously thought they had this game on lock. They were undefeated the entire season and their, let’s call it overweening, confidence was in full evidence before the game.
The Patriots had been talking, inviting them (the Giants) to their after-parties, a celebration of their perfect 19-0 season.
Amani Toomer, who has been with New York since 1996, would recall Richard Seymour telling him to go on home, that the Giants were done.

2. Humility is a virtue. Plaxico Burress made a superbowl prediction, 23-17 in favor of the Giants, to which Tom Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots, responded
“We’re only going to score 17 points?” Brady said with a laugh. “OK. Is Plax playing defense?”
Final Score? 17-14 in favor of the Giants. I guess 17 points would have been nice, Brady.
3. It ain’t over ’til it’s over. With 2:39 seconds remaining, the score was actually 14-10 in favor of the Patriots.
Next thing you knew, Manning was caught in a scrum. It looked like a sack. This was the end, you thought. But then Manning — not the most mobile of quarterbacks — broke free. You could see Jarvis Green and Richard Seymour still pulling at his jersey.
“I don’t know how he got out of there,” said Seymour. “Normally he’ll either go down or give himself up. But he continued to fight.”
4. Don’t go down without a fight. ‘Nuff said.
5. Sportsmanship in all things. With a second to go on the clock, Patriots coach Bill Belichick ran over for a quick handshake with Giants coach Tom Coughlin then made a beeline for the locker room.
Even though the Patriots lost, this made them losers.

9. Be a diva.
Confidence. A diva is someone who has total self-confidence and doesn’t hesitate to share it with the world.
V.I.P. In a word, a diva is a star.
You should be too! If you aren’t the star of your own life; if you have ceded your stardom to work, your spouse, kids, a boss, a best friend, or anyone who isn’t you then alarm claxons should sound in your head. “Danger! Danger, Will Robinson!”
Upfront. Divas are never nice. Divas are gracious, agreeable, accommodating, and friendly.
A diva, however, is no doormat. A diva speaks their mind and stands up for themself.
Presence. A diva has a compelling presence. Regardless of the action, no matter how tedious, a diva works it. Making copies? Joe Schmoe would be slumped, staring vacantly at the copier. A diva is standing back straight, head high, taking the opportunity to bond with any passing coworker. (You never know who might be passing through.)
Egomaniac. Tread lightly the line between diva and egomaniac. You should have confidence in yourself and inspire it in others. People should be uplifted by your presence, not assaulted by it.
A diva wants everyone to be fully themselves.
Self-confidence, independence, and chutzpah, when combined with authenticity and an open heart, can overwhelm mere mortals and inspire legions.
